Phosphorus deficiency-Melons

Symptoms
Phosphorus deficiency results in smaller leaves with dull, dark green color. A purple discoloration of the leaf underside and petioles may be seen. Very severely affected young plants show brownish blotches and later complete decay of older leaves. At flowering, deficiency results in abortion of female flowers. The stem is short and thin, and fruit is small with a dull green to bronze tint. Fruit shape may become irregular when P is lacking.
