Symptoms
Vertical splitting beginning at the blossom end and opening longitudinally towards the stem end.

Reasons
Potassium deficiency on fruit. Potassium nutrition influences fruit size, peel thickness and fruit color. Some fruit disorders are likely to occur under low potassium conditions or high N:K rations resulting in less marketable fruit: - smaller fruit - increased peel thickness - creasing - splitting

Citrus - Deformation

Symptoms
Fruit shows narrow sunken furrows on the rind surface. Therefore processing is more difficult as the peel disintegrates.

Reasons
Potassium deficiency. Creasing, the separation of the albedo from the outer peel, can be caused by a lack of potassium, calcium or boron.

Potassium deficiency on orange made worse by

Acidic soils (low pH)
Sandy or light soils (leaching)
Drought conditions
High rainfall (leaching)
or heavy irrigation
Heavy clay (illite) soils
Soils with low K reserves
Magnesium rich soils

Shoot growth more vigorous
Fruit load increase/benifit to yield
Fruit are larger with better colour, skin texture and flavouring (more acidity)

YaraMila® 15-15-15

Citrus: Start your annual grove nutritional program out right by applying 200-300 lbs YaraMila® 15-15-15 /acre according to soil test for a balanced nitrogen approach by supplying both nitrate and ammoniacal nitrogen along with fully available Phosphate, Potassium and Sulfur in a homogenous prill. Consult with your agronomist for local recommendations.

YaraMila® 21-7-14

Citrus: Start your annual grove nutritional program out right by supplying 140-240 lbs YaraMila® 21-7-14 /acre. Using YaraMila® 21-7-14 provides a balanced nitrogen approach by supplying both nitrate and ammoniacal nitrogen along with fully available Phosphate, Potassium and Sulfur in a homogenous prill. Consult with your agronomist for local recommendations.

YaraVita® MAGPHOS™

Citrus: 1-2 quarts/acre applied at 10 to 14 day intervals following fruit set. Water rate: 50 to 150 gallons/acre.

NUTRA-PHOS Zn-K PLUS

Citrus: 10 to 25 lb. per acre per application. In horticultural oil sprays, apply 1-1/2 to 3 lb. per 100 gal. of finished spray. Repeat as needed. Apply aerial applications in at least 5 gallons/acre and ground applications in at least 10 gallons/acre; however, when total application gallonage is 25 gallons per acre or less, DO NOT mix more than 1 lb. of this product per gallon of water.

SULFATE OF POTASH - GRANULAR 0-0-50

Oranges: For new plantings, apply up to 150-300 lbs Sulfate of Potash/acre in split applications throughout the growing season. For established groves apply 300-575 lbs Sulfate of Potash/acre in split applications throughout the year. Utilizing Sulfate of Potash from Yara for part or all of your potassium needs provides your crop with water soluble potassium along with sulfate sulfur.
